Highland

The girls' soccer team lost to Ventura in the first round of the Southern Section Div. II playoff on penalty kicks after two 10-minute overtimes and two 10-minute sudden-death overtimes. The team played without leading scorer Sahar Haghdan, who had a knee injury.

Though Highland's season ended with the loss, there was some positive news to report: Jarbo made an official visit to California, and she committed to play for the Bears next season.

Palmdale

The boys' soccer team hadn't won a postseason game since 1996 and it had to wait a little longer Saturday - The Falcons went to overtime for their 3-2 victory over Montebello in a Div. I first-round game.

Palmdale lost the second-round coin flip and will travel nearly 100 miles to play Diamond Ranch of Pomona at 3 p.m. today.

Paraclete

Despite its 56-46 loss to St. Mary's Academy of Inglewood in the second round of the Div. IV-AA playoffs on Saturday, the girls' basketball team has reason for hope going into next season.

Paraclete (14-10), which recently won its second consecutive Delphic League title, returns sophomore guards Bria Fields (last season's league MVP), Jessica Echenique, and Brittany Evans, and junior forward-center Michelle Borquez, among others.

Quartz Hill

The boys' soccer team led Eisenhower of Rialto 3-0 but allowed two late goals in its Div. I first-round playoff game and had to hang on for the 3-2 victory. Junior striker El Shaddi Bent scored all three Rebels goals. Quartz Hill will play at Mater Dei, a 2-1 overtime winner over Long Beach Poly, in the second round today.
