Chawn Johnson has brought the boys' basketball team back into the playoff race. The 6-foot-9 center, who missed the first three Golden League games - all losses - with a sprained ankle A sprained ankle, also known as a ankle sprain, ankle injury or ankle ligament injury, is a common medical condition where one or more of the ligaments of the ankle is torn or partially torn. , returned in time to save the season. Antelope Valley has won three in a row since his return, including a 65-48 blowout of rival Palmdale on Friday. His numbers don't seem to make that much of a difference - he had 12 points Friday - but his presence in the lane gets open shots for guards Mychal Bogan (19 points) and Andre Crenshaw cren·shaw   also cran·shaw

Highland

The girls' basketball team ended a losing streak A Losing Streak is the third episode of series 2 of the BBC sit-com, Only Fools and Horses. It was first broadcast on 4 November 1982. Synopsis
Del Boy, Rodney, and Grandad are making some sort of cheap perfume just to earn money after Del has been losing most of
at three games with a victory over Quartz Hill on Friday. Sophomore guard Sattier Potter had 25 points. The victory puts Highland alone in third place with Littlerock and Antelope Valley only a game back.

With a 9-13 overall record, and 3-3 record in league, Highland needs two victories to become playoff eligible over its final four games. But if it finishes in third place in the league, Highland is automatically qualified.

Either way, tonight's game against Antelope Valley is critical. The Bulldogs host A.V. at 7 p.m. in a rematch of Highland's 56-53 victory three weeks ago.

Lancaster

The girls' basketball team moved into sole possession of second place in the Golden League with a 52-48 victory over Littlerock on Friday night. The Eagles will host last-place Quartz Hill tonight at 7, but it is a critical game because three other teams are within two games of Lancaster for second place.

Lancaster seems to be finding its stride after losing point guard Andrea Bobic to a season-ending knee injury in December. According to according to

Littlerock could have tied Highland for first place in the Golden League last week but lost 69-3 in Stuart's first league dual meet against his father. Littlerock never really stood a chance because of a lack of depth in lower weights, where the Lobos forfeited four classes.

Palmdale

The girls' soccer team rediscovered its penchant for high-scoring in its only game last week, a 5-0 victory over Antelope Valley on Thursday.

Palmdale (12-10-1, 4-2 in Golden League) which is the only team to defeat first-place Quartz Hill in league, is in a three-way tie for second. The Falcons host Littlerock today, but the bigger test is Thursday against Highland, which is tied with Lancaster and Palmdale for second.

Paraclete

Despite a knee injury that has sidelined sophomore post player Bria Fields for nearly the entire season, the girls' basketball team has been successful.

Quartz Hill

Junior El Shaddi Bent scored three goals and the Rebels boys' soccer team (4-2 in Golden League play) defeated Highland in a critical league match last week. The Rebels' 4-1 victory helped them move into a tie with the Bulldogs (4-2) for second place in the league standings.

With four league games remaining, both teams must play unbeaten Palmdale (6-0). A victory by either Quartz Hill or Highland over the Falcons would break the tie.
