COLLEGES

College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  

Tessa Barnett is on the run again. In high school, she gave up soccer in favor of track. She returned to playing soccer at COC See chip on chip.  and was a standout defender for the conference champions the past two seasons, but now Barnett is back to her other sport, in which she is one of the Cougars' top performers. She recently earned a medal at the Santa Barbara Easter Relays by taking second in the 300-meter steeplechase steeplechase

The Master's College

Left fielder Brandon Tisher continues to pace the Golden State Athletic Conference The Golden State Athletic Conference is a college athletics conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The conference commissioner is Dr. Cliff Hamlow of Azusa Pacific University. Conference leadership is shared among the member institutions.  in hitting. Canyon

The boys' varsity volleyball team played Hart on Tuesday in a tuneup for its big Foothill League match Thursday against Valencia. Canyon started the week 4-2 (1-0 in league), with losses to Thousand Oaks and Highland of Palmdale.

The Cowboys are led by middle blockers Kyle Waite and Kyle Sword. The two provide a dominating presence in the middle with the 6-foot-8 Waite and Sword at 6-6. Outside hitter Brian Adans has been leading the team in kills.

Quarterback Matt Moore and lineman Chris Frome are among six Hart football players scheduled to participate in the annual Valley Youth Conference All-Star Game on June 2 at Birmingham High in Van Nuys.

Few teams have been able to slow Vikings junior shortstop Ashley Herrera. Thousand Oaks will be the latest to try to overcome the hot-hitting Herrera when she and the rest of a solid Vikings softball team face one of their toughest opponents in a nonleague game today.
