Canyon

The boys' volleyball team, considered the favorite in the Foothill League this season, will get its first major challenge today when it competes in the Arcadia tournament beginning at 8 a.m.

A major question seems to have been answered for the Cowboys, as Adam Kaminsky has stepped into the setter's role and done well so far for Canyon, which already has picked up a victory over Thousand Oaks, one of the top teams in the tough Marmonte League.

Valencia will provide the biggest challenge to Canyon in the Foothill, and Hart looks strong as well.

Valencia

The boys' volleyball team looks to extend its strong start when the Vikings play a nonleague match today at Highland.

Valencia improved to 2-0 by defeating Ventura 15-8, 15-4, 15-5 on Wednesday. The Vikings also beat Ventura in last week's season opener.

Senior outside hitter Corey Feldt, who has a combined 25 kills, has been a key factor in Valencia's success. Solid play by freshman setter Tony Ker also keeps the Vikings encouraged about their ability to challenge defending champion Canyon for the Foothill League title.
