Hart Anchored by defensive lineman Wilfred Aka, the football team won a tug-of-war contest at Staples Center just prior to the Avengers' Arena Football League game Saturday. Hart defeated Rosamond, then beat El Rancho of Pico Rivera in the final. Rounding out Hart's 10-member team: Adam Best, Ricky Vittallo, Jackson Smith, Jim Auten, Brandon Takata, Michael Fruchtman, Joe Joo, Patrick Larimore, Donovan MacGruder and Craig Wright. Aka, a junior, is developing into one of the Foothill League's strongest players. He recently set Hart's all-time weightlifting record with a combined mark of 1,205 pounds - 585 in the squat, 315 clean and 305 bench. Aka's squat and clean marks are the best in school history. Saugus The baseball team won its 20th game with a 9-0 victory Tuesday over Burroughs of Burbank, setting a school record for most wins in the regular season. The key this season has been pitching. Saugus boasts a 1.23 team ERA with eight shutouts. The past five opponents have scored two or fewer runs. Left-hander Tommy Milone leads the staff with an 8-1 record, one save and a 0.82 ERA. No. 2 starter Brandon Marcia is 6-1 with a 1.00 ERA, and Kody Kurowski is 2-0 with one save and 0.86 ERA.
