COLLEGES

College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  

Offensive lineman James Paulk is expected to accept a major-college football scholarship after finishing classes this semester. He committed to Washington early last season but changed his decision in the wake of the Rick Neuheisel Richard Gerald "Rick" Neuheisel, Jr. (born February 7, 1961 in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American football coach. Formerly a college head coach, he is currently the offensive coordinator for the NFL's Baltimore Ravens, after being promoted from quarterbacks coach on January 15,  gambling scandal resulted in a coaching change. Paulk also is being recruited by Nebraska.

Another COC See chip on chip.  player who could sign after finishing his course work is kicker Jason Thompkins, formerly of Burroughs High of Ridgecrest.

The Master's College History
The Master's College was founded as Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary on May 25, 1927 to meet the need for a fundamental Baptist school on the West Coast.
 

Women's basketball Women's basketball is one of the few games which developed in tandem with men's. It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges.  player Tiffany Webb was named Golden State Athletic Conference The Golden State Athletic Conference is a college athletics conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The conference commissioner is Dr. Cliff Hamlow of Azusa Pacific University. Conference leadership is shared among the member institutions.  Player of the Week after leading the third-ranked Mustangs to three victories last week. The senior guard from Beavercreek, Ohio Beavercreek is a city in Greene County, Ohio, United States. It is a suburb of Dayton, Ohio. The population was 37,984 at the 2000 census. The Beavercreek area was settled in the early 1800s, and in 1979, a part of Beavercreek Township was incorporated and became the City of , averaged 25 points and 4.3 assists, and shot 56.8 percent from the field in wins over Concordia of Irvine, Hope International of Fullerton and Fresno Pacific.

HIGH SCHOOLS

Canyon

Returning football standout Tyler Hawkins has a chance to develop into one of the Foothill League's top linebackers next season, although the junior is just 5-foot-9, 185 pounds.

``Tyler is a stud,'' assistant coach Scott Blade said. ``He's got the potential to be one of the best linebackers we've had in recent years. He hits like a train.''

Hart

Veteran softball coach Cathy Giordano said this might be her last season.

``I'm hoping so. I'll decide over the next month or so,'' she said.

Hart, 17-12-1 last season, opens against Hoover of Glendale at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Park in the first round of the annual Hart tournament.

Saugus

Matt Wright finished the boys' soccer season with a team-high 13 goals. The Centurions (16-7-2) fell to Thousand Oaks 4-1 in the first round of the Southern Section Div. II playoffs last week. Carmelo Tarranova had 11 goals, and Peter Lynn 10 for the season.

Valencia

Cristal Brown has joined the staff as an assistant softball coach, replacing Joe Robinson, who is a boys' basketball assistant this season. Softball assistant Pat Lowe remains as Valencia's hitting coach.
