Among the bright spots in the girls' volleyball team's 3-1 loss to Lancaster in a Golden League opener for both teams was the play of junior Samantha Bull, who had 14 kills, six aces and six blocks.

``She's becoming an incredibly well-rounded player and if she keeps working hard she can be pretty much unstoppable,'' Littlerock coach Rachel Behen said.

Littlerock plays on the road against Palmdale tonight at 6:30.

The football team concludes its nonleague schedule at Upland Upland, city (1990 pop. 63,374), San Bernardino co., S Calif., in a citrus-fruit region at the foot of the San Gabriel Mts.; inc. 1906. Citrus fruits and grapes are packed and processed in the city. Paint, orchard heaters, auto parts, and feed products are also made.  on Friday at 7 p.m.

Upland (4-0 and ranked No. 7 in Div. II) has scored 170 points in its last three games, including a 69-0 victory over Fontana. It will be the fourth game for the Falcons (2-2) against a ranked opponent.

Palmdale - which lost one to top-ranked Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  of Sherman Oaks - gained ground in the Daily News poll with an upset victory over Dominguez of Compton last week that pushed the Falcons back to .500.

The football team faces another tough nonleague challenge when it hosts Marshall of Pasadena at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties. .

Marshall (5-0) is coming off a 21-0 victory over Blair of Pasadena for its third shutout Not to be confused with Shootout.

In team sports, in American English, a shutout (a clean sheet in soccer) refers to a game in which one team prevents the opposing team from scoring. While possible, they are highly improbable in some sports, such as basketball.

Paraclete coach Dan Lyon said Marshall's balance presents matchup problems for any opponent.

``They've always had great athletes and this year it looks like they've been able to put all the pieces together,'' Lyon said.

Highland showed punch in the second and third games - losing 25-11, 25-23, 25-23 - but Quartz Hill held on for the victory.

Quartz Hill hosts Lancaster today at 6:30 p.m.
