Girls' golf coach Brett Pape said he is leaning toward giving up his position so he can coach football in some capacity next season.

The girls' volleyball team slipped to third place in the Golden League when second-place Palmdale upset previously unbeaten Quartz Hill on Thursday, and was rewarded with the toughest draw of any of the league's playoff representatives when the Southern Section announced the Div. Quarterback Bobby Thomas, who suffered a concussion in Lancaster's 29-13 loss to Palmdale last Friday, will decide Wednesday if he will play Friday's regular season finale at Highland.

``I still have a headache,'' Thomas said. ``But the doctors told me the headache should go away in a few more days. ... I want to play, it's my last Golden League game. But I also kind of have to play it smart because playoffs are next week.''
