DAILY PLANNERS CAN OFFER AID TO THE HARRIED : WEBPOINTERS.

Byline: Kitty Williams

Does time sometimes seem to compress and wriggle away from you? Are you ``busy, busy, busy'' all day long, but then wonder what you actually did?

A tongue-in-cheek article in the British e-zine, Shift Control by Robin Hunt, head of the Guardian and Observer New Media Lab, complains about the European European

An industry has sprung up to help people deal with this situation. Personal planners, calendars and schedule books are omnipresent om·ni·pres·ent

Perhaps Covey's focus is unlike the one behind the little free calendars you get from your Realtor Realtor

In the United States a designation used to describe a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

Notes:
The term "realtor" is a registered trademark and encompasses agents, brokers and associates who are members of a real-estate firm associated with
or the Week at a Glance pocket calendars or Day at a Glance desk calendars we all grew up with, but it is essentially the same as Franklin Quest's. Day-Timers are a bit less spiritual, though they look more or less like the other two with an hourly schedule, to-do list, a place to record expenses, and a page for notes and commitments.

All of these systems also have excellent Web sites you can visit for more information and, of course, to order the planners, tapes, videos, seminars and miscellaneous peripherals.

At the Franklin Quest site, you can learn how the members of the ``Jefferson Family,'' Mom, Dad, kids, dog, use their planners. Picnic, the dog, actually doesn't have one, but once enjoyed a brief taste of the genuine leather cover on Mrs. J's when she left it within reach. He liked it a lot.

The Day-Timer's site has Time Tips of the Day, an interactive test to rate your time management skills, and an archive of articles and tips.

The Covey site opens with the statement: ``Traditional time management suggests that by doing things more efficiently you will eventually gain control of your life and this increased control will bring the peace of mind and fulfillment ful·fill also ful·fil
tr.v. ful·filled, ful·fill·ing, ful·fills also ful·fils

If you want to find what Covey could possibly mean by that, go to their site and see if their ``First Things First Things is a monthly ecumenical journal concerned with the creation of a "religiously informed public philosophy for the ordering of society" (First Things website).  First Approach'' might work for you.

On a personal note: I use one of these systems fairly regularly and I like it a lot. Unfortunately, it hasn't cured me of missing deadlines or failing to return phone calls.

At least I can keep track of all the things I didn't do.
