EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

THE Business Journal's list of L.A. County's biggest daily newspapers has grown from 10 to 15, with the inclusion of two ethnic publications, two trade journals and a small local paper.

The Korea Korea (kôrē`ə, kə–), Korean Hanguk or Choson, region and historic country (85,049 sq mi/220,277 sq km), E Asia.  Central Daily debuts at No. 7 with an average paid daily circulation of 62,631, while Chinese Chinese, subfamily of the Sino-Tibetan family of languages (see Sino-Tibetan languages), which is also sometimes grouped with the Tai, or Thai, languages in a Sinitic subfamily of the Sino-Tibetan language stock.  Sing Tao Daily The Sing Tao Daily (Traditional Chinese: 星島日報) is Hong Kong's second largest Chinese language newspaper.  emerges at No. 9 with a readership read·er·ship

, a trade paper for the legal industry, round out the list with circulations of 19,056 and 13,300, respectively.

All but three of the publications on the list experienced growth in their numbers, with Daily Variety showing the largest spurt spurt Vox populi A surge or abrupt ↑ in the size or speed of a thing. Most of that jump can be attributed to a New York edition The New York Edition of Henry James' fiction was a 24-volume collection of the Anglo-American writer's novels, novellas and short stories, originally published in the U.S. and the UK in 1907-1909.  that was started last year. The Hollywood Reporter had the largest drop in circulation, down 4.95 percent from last year.

THE PACESETTER

LOS ANGELES TIMES Los Angeles Times

Morning daily newspaper. Established in 1881, it was purchased and incorporated in 1884 by Harrison Gray Otis (1837–1917) under The Times-Mirror Co. (the hyphen was later dropped from the name).
 

The Los Angeles Times showed growth in circulation for the fourth straight September September: see month. , a rare achievement for a large metropolitan daily.

For the six months ended Sept. 30, average daily paid circulation was 1.08 million, up 1 percent from the like period last year. Sunday Sunday: see Sabbath; week.  circulation rose as well, with a slight increase of .07 percent. While those gains outstrip out·strip

The Times has implemented a number of changes to boost circulation.
