In a 9-2 vote Monday evening, the employees decertified the union, Local 17, said John Webb John Webb may refer to:

The composing room and plate-making operations have downsized in recent years due to automation and subcontracting.

Monday's vote does not change the job status or hourly compensation rates for the 12 employees of the two production departments at the Woodland Hills main office and Valencia printing plant.

Workers in those departments had been affiliated with the union, formerly named the International Typographical Union The International Typographical Union (ITU) was a labor union founded on May 3, 1852, in the United States as the National Typographical Union. In its 1869 convention in Albany, New York, the union—having organized members in Canada—changed its name to the , for more than 30 years.

``We are pleased because the vote shows the employees' confidence in the Daily News,'' said Larry T. Beasley, president, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. He said that decertification will give the company and employees greater flexibility in establishing work rules and duties.
