It's a wonder Nadine Carson has any time for herself. Carson divides her volunteer efforts among four agencies around Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. .

``You find the time to do things you really want to do,'' she says.

For all their good work, she and her husband, Ed, together have received the Children's Burn Foundation's Giving New Hope Award and the Hugh O'Brian Hugh O'Brian (born April 19, 1925) is an American actor.

Born Hugh Charles Krampe in Rochester, New York, he is best known for his starring role as Wyatt Earp in the television series, The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp that ran from 1955 to 1961.

``I've always been involved, always been people-oriented,'' she says. ``I don't understand people who don't get involved.''

For 10 years, Carson also has helped raise money to support the Autry Museum of Western Heritage. ``The Gene Autry Museum is one of my loves,'' says Carson. Another of her causes is the Music Center of Los Angeles County's Blue Ribbon support group, which has a 600-woman membership. Every spring, the volunteers put on the four-day Dorothy Chandler Children's Festival for fifth-graders all over Los Angeles County.  and help get the children from their buses to their seats.

``I get so much energy just from being around those kids,'' says Carson. ``It's a very rewarding experience.''

And Carson is also a member of the Council, a group dedicated to raising money to support the Children's Burn Foundation. The foundation was established in 1985 to provide financial resources to meet the special needs of children suffering from severe burns caused by abuse, neglect or accident. These services include preventive education and advocacy as well as the full spectrum of post acute patient care, something many victims can't afford.

``They (the Children's Burn Foundation) treat the entire individual, not just the burns,'' says Carson. ``They provide the caring and emotional support, the giving of hope.''

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: None. ``God has been very good to me.''

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: ``My family; keeping us all together and developing a spirit of all for one and one for all.''

GOALS FOR THE FUTURE: ``Continue to live the kind of life that will be a credit to society and to support my family.''

WHO RELIES ON YOU THE MOST AND WHO YOU RELY ON: ``The center of my life is my husband. I have immense respect for him.''

ROLE MODELS: ``My mother. She was a very dear, dear person.''

HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?: ``I define success as the quality of the individual you are and what you put back into the community.''

FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: ``I'm energized and stimulated by working with young people.''

WHAT WOULD BE A PERFECT DAY FOR YOU?:``Having family and friends around the dining room table: talking, laughing, eating. It's a very precious time to me.''
