For eight years, Mary Marko has been the ``seeing eyes'' for students in the ceramics class at Visually Handicapped Adults of the Valley. The students, who range from 40 to 80 years old, are either partially blind or completely blind. Marko pours the molds, advises the students on color and technique and sometimes shops for greenware For other uses, see .

 when molds are unavailable in the class. ``I used to hit a lot of different ceramic shops to try to find items that they would like to work on,'' she said. ``I enjoy helping them. It makes you feel good.''

: ``I volunteer at Visually Handicapped Adults of the Valley in Van Nuys. I help out in the ceramics room. I started out being a gopher - helping them, getting their paints and other articles. Now, I'm a professional. I pour the molds for them.''

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED?: ``Through Angela McKervey, a close friend, who also has been volunteering there. When I retired, she wanted me to help out. I wasn't sure at first, but when I went in, I wish I had started long before. They are such wonderful people. I call them my children. They'll say, `Mary, Mary, I need your help.' They are so grateful to you for anything you do for them. They can do such beautiful work.''

WHY DO YOU VOLUNTEER?: ``Because I feel like I'm helping out. Even though there are probably a million and one things I can do around the house. I enjoy doing it.''

MOST DIFFICULT DAILY TASK: ``Cooking dinner. I hate to cook now that my kids are gone. My mother lives with us - she's 99 years old - so I cook for her. I can cook if I have to, but it's not one of my favorite My Favorite is an independent synthpop band from Long Island, New York. They released two CDs: Love at Absolute Zero and Happiest Days of Our Lives. My Favorite broke up on September 14, 2005, when singer Andrea Vaughn left the band.  jobs.''

FAVORITE DAILY TASK: ``Working in the garden. I love to work outside.''

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: ``Raising our three children. They are all self-sufficient, good and honest law-abiding citizens, and we love them dearly.''

GOALS FOR THE FUTURE: ``Hopefully that Frank and I can live a long time. We go to exercise three times a week; we both work in the yard.''

WHO RELIES ON YOU THE MOST AND WHO YOU RELY ON: ``My mom relies on me the most. I rely on my husband.''

HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?: ``If you can have a good life, pay all your bills, be happy with your family and have good friends. I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: ``I was into a lot of craft work when I was younger. I had a Campfire girl group - we used to do crafts - now I mainly crochet.''

WHAT WOULD BE A PERFECT DAY FOR YOU?: ``A perfect day would be just to get up and have everybody healthy and happy. And have nice weather.''
