For 11 years, Abbazia has given her time working with the Kenneth Jernigan Norman Kenneth Jernigan (November 13, 1926—October 12, 1998) was the longtime leader of the National Federation of the Blind. Background
Kenneth Jernigan was born totally blind in Detroit, Michigan, but grew up on a farm in the hills of Tennessee.
 Library for Blind Children in Tarzana, a division of American Action Fund for Blind Children and Adults. She transcribes children's books into braille at the office two days a week, along with binding the books and repairing damaged ones. Sometimes she even transcribes books at home. Abbazia also helps create ``twin vision'' books, which combine print and braille in one volume - with printed words on one page and the same text in braille on the facing page. The mirror image effect of these books allows a blind parent to read to a sighted child or a blind child to read along with a sighted parent.
