Porky Pig Porky Pig is an Academy Award-nominated animated cartoon character in the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons. He was the first character created by the studio to draw audiences based on his star power, and the animators (particularly  is alive and well and living in Valencia - or at least his voice is. Bob Bergen Bob Bergen (born March 8, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American voice actor. He is the current voice of Porky Pig (having performed the character in Tiny Toon Adventures, Space Jam, , and the Duck Dodgers TV show), and formerly hosted Jep!  is not only the voice of Porky Pig for Warner Bros BROS Brothers

And yet he's not too busy to take on the job of a Big Brother. Bergen has been a Big Brother for almost nine years. The last six have been spent with Mark, now 12.

``I've watched him grow into a fine young man,'' says Bergen. ``He's a good friend.''

: Bergen began the process of becoming a member of Jewish Big Brothers of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  nine years ago. All potential volunteers are carefully screened and fingerprinted. Once accepted into the program, they are thoroughly interviewed and profiled to match them with a Little Brother with similar interests.

The program's primary aim is to help children, especially those from single-parent homes, to achieve their full potential. The organization has three core service programs - professionally supervised relationships (Big Brother/Little Brother); child-centered counseling; and nonsectarian, specialized spe·cial·ize

``Being a Big Brother is not just beneficial for him (Mark),'' says Bergen, ``but beneficial for me, too.''

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED?: ``I wanted to be one (Big Brother). It's a long process. They try to match you with a compatible kid.''

WHY DO YOU VOLUNTEER?: ``I wanted to do something that wasn't just sending a check somewhere. I wanted to do something that would make a difference.''

BIGGEST DILEMMA: ``Finding time in the day to do everything I want to do.''

FAVORITE DAILY TASK: ``My work. My job is doing voices for cartoons - I do the voice of Porky Pig for Warner Bros. and I'm the announcer for the Disney Channel.''

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: ``Being an actor, (life can be) full of disappointments, but things happen for a reason. When one door shuts, another one opens. Someone who has the will and gumption to do what they want will succeed.''

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: ``Being successful career-wise in my chosen profession - I always wanted to be Porky Pig. I had great opportunities. A good family foundation makes success.''

GOALS FOR THE FUTURE: Bergen is hosting a new children's game show called ``Jep!'' and he hopes to move to a new home in the San Fernando Valley within the next year.

WHO RELIES ON YOU THE MOST AND WHO YOU RELY ON: ``I rely on my parents 29 hours a day. I have lots of friends who rely on me. I'm just an ear. I don't always give advice.''

ROLE MODELS: ``I've always relied on myself. I didn't really care what others thought.''

HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?: ``Success is so personal, so in your heart. To wake up in the morning and say: `I'm so glad of what I do.' The most important thing to have is passion. Passion for friends, family and career.''

FAVORITE VALLEY HANGOUTS: Jerry's Deli in Studio City. ``I love the Valley,'' says Bergen.

FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: ``I love movies; love to eat out and smoke a good cigar,'' says Bergen. ``I love to walk on the b`each at night or on a cold overcast day.''

HOBBIES: ``My work is my hobby.''

WHAT WOULD BE A PERFECT DAY FOR YOU?: ``Wake up early. Go to the gym. Go to work. Drive with friends to Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  for lunch and get back in time for dinner with more friends.''
