DAILY NEWS PARENT NAMES NET EXECUTIVE.Byline: Daily News WOODLAND HILLS - John Zappe has been named to the new position of vice president, new media, for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group. The appointment was announced by LANG President and Chief Executive Officer Ike Massey. Zappe will be responsible for the development of a comprehensive Internet Web site, linking all nine LANG newspapers together, including dailynews.com. For the past two years, Zappe served as new media director for Belo Interactive at the Riverside Press Enterprise. Previously, Zappe was at the Long Beach Press-Telegram, where he directed the online group that planned, built and launched PT Connect. Along with a postgraduate law degree from Syracuse University, Zappe has a B.A. degree in political science from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Los Angeles Newspaper Group is composed of nine daily papers: The Daily News, Long Beach Press-Telegram, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Pasadena Star-News, Whittier Daily News, San Bernardino County Sun, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Redlands Daily Facts and Lompoc Record.
