Freshman Kevin Joy homered in his first high school at-bat for visiting Antelope Valley High on Friday, and the Antelopes also got two triples from Mike Place and a complete-game pitching effort from Justin Morgan in a 7-1 Daily News Invitational win over Monroe (1-1).

In other tournament games Friday:

Wilson 6, St. Francis 5: Jose Castanon's three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth launched a comeback by the host Mules (3-2) after St. Francis built a 4-0 lead.

Huntington Park 11, Harvard-Westlake 8: John Goldman had three hits, including two doubles, and sophomore Matt Horn hit a three-run home run in his first varsity at-bat to lead the losing Wolverines (0-1), who were undone as much by their eight errors as a 10-hit attack by the Spartans (1-1).

Chaminade 12, Franklin 0: Spencer Gordon homered and drove in four runs, and Nate Dunlap and Jon Higashi doubled for the Eagles (1-0), who scored seven runs in the second inning and outhit the Panthers 8-1. Franklin fell to 0-2.

Granada Hills 6, Highland 5: Dan Frisbee doubled to spark a seven-hit attack by the Highlanders (2-0), who won with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Daniel Champieux homered and John Santor tripled to lead the Bulldogs' five-hit offense.

Grant 6, Valencia 5: Alex Ubeda, John Spielvogel and Felipe Tetelboin homered and Spielvogel also doubled for the Lancers (2-0), who trailed 3-0 after two innings and broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the fifth.

Notre Dame 14, Kennedy 4: Jonathan Brewster tripled, Brendan Ryan doubled twice and Alec Moss doubled once for the Knights (1-0), who held a 10-0 lead after two innings and finished with 12 hits against the Cougars (1-1).

Paraclete 8, Cleveland 0: Matt Parris homered, Matt Meyer tripled and Jason Brown and Doug Morrow doubled for the Spirits (1-0), who held the Cavaliers (1-1) to two hits.

San Fernando 6, Westlake 6: Jesse Kozlowski and Michael Nickeas homered for Westlake, which took a 6-1 lead into the seventh inning before visiting San Fernando rallied to tie in a game called by darkness at the conclusion of the seventh.

Birmingham 12, Lancaster 9: Jorge Garduno had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs, and Jimmy McGrath and Jose Carrillo also doubled for the Patriots (2-0), who outlasted the Eagles (0-1) in a game that produced 20 hits, 11 by Birmingham.

Calabasas 12, Canoga Park 2: Randy Curtis tripled and doubled and drove in three runs for the Coyotes (1-0), while winning pitcher Tony Sulcer and two relievers combined to limit the visiting Hunters (0-2) to three hits.

El Camino Real 18, Quartz Hill 8: Matt Schartz homered and doubled to pace a 17-hit offense by the Conquistadores (2-0), who also got triples from Mike Grossman and Brian Somoza in the mercy-rule win.

Glendale 12, Eagle Rock 2: Art Cordova and Chris Alcarez both homered, Eric Brandt had three hits and three RBI and Bryan Aguilla struck out seven in a complete-game two-hitter for the host Dynamiters (2-0).

Thousand Oaks 13, North Hollywood 3: Adam Leavitt went 4 for 4, driving in two runs, and Chris Cordeiro, Jesse Siebers and Doug Hutton homered in a 14-hit attack by the Lancers (1-0).
