DA VINCI RELEASES eMAIL v2.0 IN PORTUGUESE Native User Interface In Full Functionality

RALEIGH, N.C., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to respond to the demands of international customers, Da Vinci Systems Corporation announced today that a Portuguese version of its electronic mail product will ship at the end of June 1993. Portuguese eMAIL v2.0 features the DOS user interface, on-line help, and simplified documentation in Portuguese and also offers the user spell checking in both Portuguese and English via dual dictionaries.
Delivery of this new release demonstrates Da Vinci's commitment to meeting the needs of its Portuguese speaking customers by providing a full featured E-mail product in their native language. Portuguese eMAIL v2.0 is an advanced electronic mail application which operates on the DOS platform. Like Da Vinci's English E-mail product, Portuguese eMAIL v2.0 includes such rich functionality as: encryption, international date and time support, conversation, threading, file enclosures, message sorting, message delivery grades and blind carbon copies. Da Vinci is the only E-mail vendor to provide Portuguese users a native language version with such a high level of functionality.
"Da Vinci has known for a while that merely providing an English language version of a communications product like eMAIL does not fully meet the needs of our international customers. That is why we have been providing several native language versions since 1989, said Bill Nussey, president of Da Vinci Systems. "The Portuguese eMAIL v2.0 offers far more than the `low-end' electronic mail traditionally provided by U.S. vendors in languages other than English," he continued. "Da Vinci's new version gives users the latest features on the market and is the only Portuguese product available with some of the more advanced features like dual dictionaries."
"As the overall LAN market grows in Brazil, users are becoming more sophisticated and want to have the freedom to choose a product that best fits their needs," said Jones Gracia, director of Consisnet Sistemas e Redes Ltda. Consisnet is the largest distributor of Novell products in South America, has been a distributor of English eMAIL, and will be the first distributor of Portuguese eMAIL v2.02 in Brazil. "We feel that Da Vinci eMAIL is the right choice because it has the powerful features users want, it is easy to use, and it is very NetWare-aware," continued Gracia. "We expect a big boom in eMAIL sales this year."
Like all Da Vinci eMAIL products, Portuguese eMAIL v2.0 is optimized for Novell's NetWare. Da Vinci eMAIL is tightly integrated with NetWare and takes advantage of the network services already inherent in NetWare such as security, messaging, and administration. This architecture greatly simplifies and decreases the amount of effort required for a network administrator to maintain the eMAIL system.
Da Vinci is a leader in international sales of PC-based electronic mail with over 35 percent of its sales coming from outside North America. Its software is distributed world wide by over 40 international distributors. The Portuguese eMAIL v2.0 is among the first in a line of eMAIL v2.02 translations which already includes German, French, and Spanish. These products enhance Da Vinci's full suite of native language eMAIL packages which also includes earlier versions of Italian, Japanese, and Norgwegian. Da Vinci is currently developing a new Swedish and Hebrew release.
Portuguese eMAIL will be available by the end of June and starts at the suggested retail price of $549 for a 10-user Starter Pack.
Da Vinci Systems Corporation is a leading supplier of MHS-based electronic mail for NetWare networks with over 1.5 million users world wide.
