DA SEEKS TO TRY TEEN AS ADULT.Byline: Enrique Rivero Daily News Staff Writer The Ventura County District Attorney's Office is seeking to try a 17-year-old Newbury Park youth as an adult in a series of sexual assaults, officials said Wednesday. Prosecutors submitted a request to have the youngster deemed unfit for trial in juvenile court juvenile court Special court handling problems of delinquent, neglected, or abused children. Two types of cases are processed by a juvenile court: civil matters, often concerning care of an abandoned or impoverished child, and criminal matters, arising from antisocial , Deputy District Attorney Trish Kelliher said. ``We have made a request for a finding of unfitness and that issue will be evaluated in the next couple of weeks,'' Kelliher said. The unidentified youth, who police said is a senior at Newbury Park High School, was arrested Friday on suspicion of assaulting six females, ages 14 to 37 years old. The assaults occurred from September to November, and included the Nov. 5 attack on an 18-year-old Simi Valley woman who was attending a Moorpark College night class held at Newbury Park High School, police said. The other assaults occurred along Reino Road between Borchard and Old Conejo roads, said Sgt. Robert Sparks of the Thousand Oaks Police Department's major crimes unit.
