The new release features significant enhancements in the areas of automated operations, performance, extended enterprise functionality, usability, and installation. Tapestry 2.1 automates the process of extracting, transforming, and loading data from heterogeneous sources into data warehouses and data marts.

Tapestry natively extracts from SAP and PeopleSoft applications, as well as UNIX, NT, OS/400, and MVS data sources. Source data support includes relational databases, sequential files, and the IMS and VSAM legacy data management systems. Target databases include Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Informix, and Sybase running on UNIX or Windows NT.

Tapestry's patented, engine-based architecture and technology employ an active meta data catalog that enables centralized scheduling, task management, and enterprise-wide scalability. The Tapestry application server runs on UNIX and NT platforms, and supports both distributed and centralized reporting environments.

The product features web-based administration and end-user interfaces implemented in 100% Pure Java, plus an optional "publish/subscribe" end user delivery mechanism.

Tapestry 2.1 application servers are available immediately for Sun Solaris and Windows NT. Tapestry 2.1 for HP/UX, IBM AIX, and Compaq Tru64 ("DIGITAL UNIX") will be generally available by June 30, 1999.
