D.C. Area YouTubers Prepare for First-Ever Local Gathering on September 8, 2007 (9-8-7) in Alexandria, VA.

Meet YouTube Performers & Local Celebrities at DCTubeGathering; Live Entertainment From 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- If you're in Alexandria and witness what appears to be a mass invasion of folks with video cameras, relax it's simply members of the YouTube community headed to the first-ever DCTubeGathering to be held on September 8, 2007, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., both outside and inside Floyd's Bar & Grill at 5951 Stevenson Avenue, Alexandria, VA. The non-commercial event is open and free to the public as well as YouTubers.

"We continue to add sponsors and partners, bands, entertainers, comedians, YouTube performers and local, celebrities such as Chief Zee, the Washington Redskin's unofficial mascot, and Theron Johnson, a member of the U.S. Bobsled team and Olympic hopeful," said DCTubeGathering Spokesperson Mike Houghton. "Like YouTube's recent video involvement in the Presidential debates, attendees will have the opportunity to tape questions for the candidates and participate in a mock vote."

Earlier this year, thousands flocked to San Francisco for the first user gathering and last month users gathered in Washington Square in New York City. Other gatherings are being organized in Houston, Atlanta and cities across the world.

With an estimated 48 million YouTube.com subscribers, the DCTubeGathering's goal is to have a fun event for the local singers, songwriters, comedians, commentators, screenwriters and others who post video clips to YouTube,

The event supports two important charities: Shaping America's Health, an organization that provides tools, programs, and processes that empower individuals, families, and health professionals, to build community environments that reduce overweight and obesity, and Kids in Trouble, which caters to the needs of at-risk children as it relates to social services such as, education, employment, law enforcement, drug abuse and gang related violence in our communities.
