, has opened a retail branch in downtown Portland Downtown Portland is located on the west bank of the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. It is in the northeastern corner of the southwest section of the city and is where most of its high-rise buildings are found. , Ore.

The office, currently staffed by five Financial Consultants and three support people, is located in the Wells Fargo Building This structure is not to be confused with the Wells Fargo Center (Portland, Oregon), the current tallest building in Portland.

Davidson said the staff in the Portland branch should offer a solid foundation for the firm's expected growth in the region.

Russell W. Tennant has been named Vice President and will be Branch Manager at the Portland office. A Portland native, Tennant most recently worked as an investment executive at Piper Jaffray Piper Jaffray & Co. (NYSE: PJC), often shortened to just Piper Jaffray or PiperJaffray, is a U.S. middle-market investment banking firm based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is a focused on delivering financial advice, investment products and transaction execution  Inc. He also worked as a municipal bond broker for SeaFirst Securities and in the computer industry. Tennant holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Portland The University of Portland (UP) is a private Catholic university located in Portland, Oregon. It is specifically affiliated with the Congregation of Holy Cross and is the sister school of the University of Notre Dame. Founded in 1901, UP has a student body of about 3,200 students.  and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Oregon State University Oregon State University, at Corvallis; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1858 as Corvallis College, opened 1865. The decision to join a stable, growing investment firm was not difficult for Tennant and others in the new Portland branch.

Tennant said D.A. Davidson & Co. has the ability to offer top-notch research to Financial Consultants and clients, setting it apart from other brokerage firms in the region. Along with an "impeccable balance sheet," the firm's ownership structure is appealing.

Joining Tennant in the Portland office as Senior Vice Presidents, Financial Consultants are Dennis E. Lowenthal and Betsy Russell. Both previously worked for Piper Jaffray.

Lowenthal, a Portland native, attended Portland State University. Prior to joining Piper Jaffray, he worked for several other securities firms, including Paine Webber Inc., E.F. Hutton and Kidder Peabody.

Russell, also a Portland native, holds a master's degree in music from the University of Michigan (body, education) University of Michigan - A large cosmopolitan university in the Midwest USA. Over 50000 students are enrolled at the University of Michigan's three campuses. The students come from 50 states and over 100 foreign countries.  and a bachelor's degree in music from Lewis and Clark College in Portland. Russell has 12 years experience in the investment business and worked for Boettcher & Co. prior to joining Piper Jaffray.

Richard M. Thomas has joined D.A. Davidson & Co. as a Vice President, Financial Consultant. He has 12 years experience in the securities industry with Piper Jaffray and Paine Webber. A Chicago native, Thomas holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and retailing from Bradley University.

Wade A. Peterson, a Financial Consultant, has 15 years experience with Piper Jaffray before joining D.A. Davidson & Co. Prior to entering the securities business, he owned a small construction company. Peterson holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Willamette University.

Jean M. Benton, Operations Manager, worked in the D.A. Davidson & Co. Lake Oswego operation before joining the new branch office. A New York New York, state, United States
