Cytyc Announces UK NHS London Region to Adopt ThinPrep Pap Test as Exclusive Cervical Screening Test.

) intends to convert all cervical screening to the ThinPrep(R) Pap Test Pap test, Pap smear, or Papanicolaou test (păp'ənē`kəlou), medical procedure used to detect cancer of the uterine cervix. . The London Region is comprised of five sectors, which process approximately 650,000 Pap tests annually. In October 2003, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) issued guidance recommending liquid-based cytology cytology (sītŏl`əjē), in biology, the study of the structure of all normal and abnormal components of cells and the changes, movements, and transformations of such components.  for cervical screening. This exclusive arrangement with the London Region represents a potential use of approximately 3.3 million ThinPrep Pap Tests over the five-year term of this contract.
