Cytyc Announces Contract for the ThinPrep(R) Imaging System with the U.S. Department of Defense.

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Cytyc Corporation (Nasdaq:CYTC) today announced that the United States Department of Defense ("DOD") has extended its sole source contract with Cytyc to now include the ThinPrep(R) Imaging System. The DOD negotiates contracts on behalf of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, and Airforce. This amendment will allow use of the ThinPrep Imaging System by laboratories throughout the military healthcare system.

The contract for the ThinPrep Imaging System with the DOD is for one year with four one-year renewal options. Initial implementation of the ThinPrep Imaging System within the military healthcare system will take place at Wilford Hall Medical Center, at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas.
