Cytovance Biologics Selects Sartorius BBI Systems Bioreactors for its Oklahoma City Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility; Completion of cGMP Facility Validation Anticipated in the Summer of 2006.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Cytovance Biologics announced today that it has selected Sartorius BBI Systems Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of bioprocess equipment and automation systems, to supply bioreactors for its cGMP biopharmaceutical production facility in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Cytovance Biologics will install two Biostat(R) DC industrial bioreactor systems in support of its contract biopharmaceutical process development and manufacturing business. The Biostat D-100C (100 L working volume) and Biostat D-500C (500 L working volume) systems will be located in dedicated cell culture production suites within Cytovance's 44,000 sq. ft. cGMP production facility located on the Presbyterian Health Foundation Research Park. Installation of the systems is anticipated to be complete in March of 2006, with the systems fully validated in the summer of 2006.

"As a service provider we have to be particularly careful when procuring processing equipment," stated Bill Fallon, president and chief executive officer of Cytovance Biologics. "We selected the Biostat DC bioreactor systems based on Sartorius BBI Systems' proven industry leadership, value and their knowledgeable design team. We also needed a supplier that was able to meet our required timelines for delivery and provide the necessary IQ and OQ support."

The bioreactors will primarily support fed-batch production of mammalian cell culture derived recombinant protein and antibody products for use in human clinical trials, but are also capable of executing perfusion processes. Cytovance also purchased multi-fermenter/bioreactor control system (MFCS) software, which is CFR part 11 compliant and designed specifically for data acquisition and supervisory control of cell culture processes.
