Cytec Names President of Specialty Chemicals Organization.

Cytec Industries Inc. (NYSE:CYT) Effective immediately, Mr. Shane D. Fleming is appointed President Cytec Specialty Chemicals.

Reporting to Mr. David Lilley, Cytec's Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Fleming will have responsibility for leading the growth of Cytec's specialty chemicals business and driving profit improvement initiatives within the business.

Upon the appointment of Mr. Fleming, David Lilley commented, "The positive momentum that has been building in the Specialty Chemicals business is demonstrated in the results achieved in 2002. Under Shane's leadership, I am confident the Specialty Chemicals business will continue to build on its strengths of satisfying its customers through superior products, technology and service."

Mr. Fleming, 44, is an engineering graduate of the University of Utah where he majored in fuels engineering. He joined Cytec in 1983 and initially held a series of progressively more responsible technical and sales management positions in the Mining Chemicals business.

Mr. Fleming has significant international experience having been named General Manager, Cytec Australia in 1994 and then in 1998 was promoted to the position of Vice President, Asia Pacific, located in Singapore. His general management role continued to expand in 2000 when he assumed responsibility for the Phosphine Chemicals business and again in April, 2002 when Mining Chemicals was added to his duties following the reorganization of Specialty Chemicals.

In the role of Specialty Chemicals President, Mr. Fleming will bring a blend of broad technical and industry knowledge, customer focus, global perspective and as a long term employee, a thorough operational understanding of Cytec's business processes. He is recognized within Cytec for his strong leadership capabilities and team building skills, both of which are core values within Cytec. Mr. Fleming will continue to be located in the West Paterson offices.
