:CY) today announced that it will host a one-hour net seminar entitled "A Scalable and Cost-Optimized Search Subsystem for IPv4 and IPv6." The live seminar will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. PDT.

Developing an optimal search subsystem frequently requires taking advantage of the best of TCAM-based and algorithmic search engines. Jag Bolaria, senior analyst at The Linley Group, will begin this live net seminar with an introduction of search-system market trends and analysis. Following Mr. Bolaria's presentation, Cypress's Dr. Pankaj Gupta will discuss the technical and business motivations for combining fundamentally different technologies into one search subsystem. Dr. Gupta will explain the requirements of forwarding lookups vs. policy lookups, the pros and cons pros and cons

Finally, Karl Etzel, product manager for Cypress's Data Communications division, will discuss how Cypress's search engine portfolio enables system architects to optimize the search subsystem for a range of applications, along with performance results for IPv4 and IPv6. Mr. Etzel will also compare cost, power, reliability and scalability of a TCAM-only implementation for several application scenarios.

About the speakers

Jag Bolaria is a senior analyst at The Linley Group. During more than 20 years in the communication and PC semiconductor industries, he defined and launched products that have generated billion-dollar revenues. He has spoken at several industry conferences and has written articles for EDN and other trade publications. His extensive industry experience includes senior roles in both marketing and engineering at Intel and other companies.

Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Principal Architect for Cypress's Data Communications Division, is the recipient of the Arthur Samuel award for the best Ph.D. dissertation in the Department of Computer Science at Stanford University in 2000-2001. His interests lie in networking at Layer 3 and above, with focus on the architecture and design of linecards and fabrics in high-performance switches and routers. Extensions of his previous work on lookup and classification are currently used extensively throughout the industry. Dr. Gupta has previously worked for Cisco Systems, and was the cofounder co·found

Cypress's Network Search Engines

The Ayama 10000 family of NSEs maintains the Cypress lead in the commercial TCAM market by extending the density and speed of the NSE70000 family: density options of 4-Mbit, 9-Mbit and 18-Mbit with speeds up to 266 MSPS MSPS Mega-Samples Per Second
MSPS Million Samples Per Second
MSPS Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors
MSPS Modular Synthesis Plug-In System
MSPS Million Symbols per Second
MSPS mobilization stationing and planning system (US DoD)
. In addition, the Ayama 10000 family addresses system's power and latency concerns with differentiated features such as Mini-Key(TM) power management and Soft Priority(TM) table management.

Building on the Ayama 10000 family, the Ayama 20000 NSE is a high-performance TCAM-based network search engine that seamlessly connects to the Network Processing Forum The Network Processing Forum (NPF) was organized to facilitate and accelerate the development of next-generation networking and telecommunications products based on network processing technologies. The NPF was merged into the Optical Internetworking Forum in June of 2006.  (NPF) approved LA-1 interface-based commercial NPUs. The Ayama 20000 NSE is available in 9-Mbit and 18-Mbit densities; at 266-million searches per second (MSPS) it is the highest-performance LA-1 based NSE in the market.

In addition to TCAM-based solutions, Cypress is the only vendor to also offer an Algorithmic SRAM-based forwarding search engine. The Sahasra(TM) 50000 NSE is a family of algorithmic search engines optimized for large forwarding tables in applications such as virtual router forwarding (VRF) and virtual private network (VPNs) that need greater than one-million table entries. The Sahasra NSE family can achieve 250 MSPS, at a fraction of the power and cost of existing TCAM-based search solutions.

Cypress's comprehensive NSE portfolio has been adopted by leading router, L2/3 switche, CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) A computerized device that enables cable modems to send and receive packets over the Internet. Cypress is a member of the Intel Communications Alliance and is also an active member and contributor to the NPF. More information on the Intel Communications Alliance can be found at http://www.intel.com/design/network/ica/index.htm and information on the NPF can be found at www.npforum.org.
