Type of serial bus that allows peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, digitizers, data gloves, etc.) to be easily connected to a computer.
-- today announced that its TetraHub(TM) USB 2.0 hub controller has successfully passed the full suite of compliance tests set by the USB Implementers Forum The USB Implementers Forum, USB-IF, is a non-profit organisation to promote and support the Universal Serial Bus. Its main activities are the promotion and marketing of USB, Wireless USB, USB On-The-Go, and the maintenance of the specifications, as well as a compliance program.  (USB-IF). TetraHub has been added to the USB-IF Integrators List, signifying to USB developers that the Cypress TetraHub controller has met the strict specifications for USB 2.0 hub devices.

"This is yet another key milestone for Cypress in terms of our rapidly growing USB 2.0 product portfolio," said Jeff Chang This article is about the Taiwanese singer. For the writer and hip-hop historian, see Jeff Chang (journalist).

Jeff Chang (Traditional Chinese: 張信哲
, product marketing manager for Cypress's Personal Communications Division. "With a quick development cycle, TetraHub will enable USB developers to deploy cost-effective, multiple high-performance USB 2.0 ports in their applications."

The CY7C65640 USB 2.0 hub controller implements Cypress's innovative 'Tetra' architecture, providing four transaction translators to four downstream peripheral ports. This design architecture is superior in performance to single transaction translator designs currently on the market. Transaction translators are crucial in ensuring the forward- and backward-compatibility of USB 1.1 and 2.0. The TetraHub device is a fixed-function solution, requiring no firmware intervention, thereby reducing design risk and development time, and may be used as a high-bandwidth controller in standalone hubs, monitor hubs, port replicators and docking stations. Additionally, the controller may be used to increase the number of USB ports on a PC without integrating additional host controllers.

Availability and Pricing

Samples of the TetraHub are available now. Production volumes will be available in late Q302 and priced at $6.93 in volumes of 10,000 units. The TetraHub controller is available in a space-saving, cost-effective 56QFN QFN Quad Flat No-Lead

The CY4602 TetraHub Reference Design Kit is also currently available to shorten and simplify product design cycles.
