About Cypress's Video Interface Portfolio

Cypress's HOTLink family of SERDES provides point-to-point or point-to-multipoint serial communication interfaces over high-speed optical or copper links. HOTLink devices offer serialization se·ri·al·ize

, deserialization, optional 8B/10B encoding/decoding and framing functions. Due to its frequency agility (50 Mbps - 1.5 Gbps), the HOTLink family can be used to implement proprietary serial communication protocols as well as popular serial protocols like Fiber Channel, DVB-ASI DVB-ASI Digital Video Broadcasting - Asynchronous Serial Interface , Gigabit Ethernet (GigE), ESCON (Enterprise Systems CONnection) An IBM S/390 fiber-optic channel that transfers 17 Mbytes/sec over distances up to 60 km depending on connection type. ESCON allows peripheral devices to be located across large campuses and metropolitan areas. [R], SMPTE 259M and SMPTE 292M. All HOTLink devices provide an easy implementation path for customer designs because of a single power supply and an integrated voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO (1) (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) An oscillator that can be tuned over a wide range of frequencies by applying a voltage (tuning voltage) to it. Used in many applications such as radio tuners, VCOs are less costly than crystal oscillators, but not as stable. ) and phase-locked loop (PLL PLL - phase-locked loop ).

Cypress's multi-rate Video Equalizers (HD/SD/DVB-ASI) utilize proprietary CLEANLink[TM] equalization technology for high performance across cable lengths in professional video systems. For an easy solution to meet DVB-ASI specifications for applications such as video distribution amplifiers, production routers and switchers, A/D A/D

and D/A converters, and other professional broadcast equipment, customers can utilize Cypress's multi-rate Cable Drivers for non-inverting DVB-ASI signals without adding external devices.
