contend that the verdict is in error and plan to continue to vigorously defend the lawsuit through the appeals process.

The lawsuit waged by Texas Instruments against the companies concerns certain patents for semiconductor packaging technology which expired in 1990 and 1994. The jury decision in the North Dallas Federal District Court found the patent valid and infringed and called for damages in the following amounts: Cypress, $17.8 million, LSI, $14.6 million and VLSI, $19.4 million.

This verdict is not yet final pending motions to be filed by the defendants asking the judge to modify the verdict in their favor. Because the patents have expired, this decision has no impact on current and future products of any of the three companies.
