Cypress Names Paul Chu VP of Asia Sales and Operations; Hong Kong Native Brings More than 25 Years Of High-Tech Sales, Marketing and Engineering Experience to Cypress.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) today announced the appointment of Paul Chu as vice president of Asia Sales and Operations. He will report to Bien Irace, senior vice president of International Sales.

Chu brings more than 25 years of semiconductor sales, marketing and engineering experience to Cypress, including stints at Fairchild, AMD and IIT in the U.S., and the last 12 years in his native Hong Kong with C-Cube, LSI Logic and Freescale. Chu earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in California.

"I am very excited to be heading up Cypress's sales and operations in Asia. This is where the growth is," said Chu. "There are tremendous opportunities, particularly with Cypress's PSoC(R) programmable mixed signal arrays, USB and clock products, and I'm very passionate about winning."

Chu's responsibilities will include growing the company's Asia business and expanding its regional presence to support local customers and augment the Cypress sales force. Cypress's business in Asia has grown significantly over the last several years, and accounted for 45 percent of revenue in 2005, driven in large part by sales of USB controllers, memories and clocks to consumer, computation and communications customers.
