:CY) today announced the appointment of Paul Chu as vice president of Asia Sales and Operations. He will report to Bien Irace, senior vice president of International Sales.

Chu brings more than 25 years of semiconductor sales, marketing and engineering experience to Cypress, including stints at Fairchild, AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips.  and IIT IIT - Integrated Information Technology  in the U.S., and the last 12 years in his native Hong Kong with C-Cube, LSI LSI: see integrated circuit.

Chu's responsibilities will include growing the company's Asia business and expanding its regional presence to support local customers and augment the Cypress sales force. Cypress's business in Asia has grown significantly over the last several years, and accounted for 45 percent of revenue in 2005, driven in large part by sales of USB controllers, memories and clocks to consumer, computation and communications customers.
