Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:CY) today announced that it will host the August 14 Silicon Valley WebGuild meeting, which will highlight Mike Langberg of the San Jose Mercury News The San Jose Mercury News is the major daily newspaper in San Jose, California and Silicon Valley. The paper is owned by MediaNews Group. Its headquarters and printing plant are located in North San Jose next to the Nimitz Freeway (Interstate 880).  and his presentation on what every email user can do to battle junk email, or spam.

Spam has become a major nuisance for email users, who now spend valuable time -- costing businesses approximately $200 per mailbox per year -- deleting streams of unwanted, often offensive, unsolicited messages. Spammers use the latest technologies to operate on a global scale and evade detection by government authorities and anti-spam advocates. By 2006, the average email user is expected to receive nearly 1,500 pieces of spam a year.
