Cypress Highlights Its USB and Memory Solutions at the Intel Developer Forum.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 17, 2001

Cypress Semiconductor (NYSE NYSE

See: New York Stock Exchange
:CY) today announced that it will exhibit at the Fall 2001 Intel Developer Forum Intel Developer Forum (IDF), is a twice yearly gathering of technologists to discuss Intel products and products based around Intel products. The first IDF was in 1997. There is usually a Spring IDF and a Fall IDF.  (IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) A wiring rack located between the MDF (main distribution frame) and the intended end user devices (telephones, routers, PCs, etc.). Cables run from the outside world to the MDF and then to the IDFs. See MDF and wiring rack. ), to be held at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, Calif., from August 27 through August 30, 2001. The company will highlight its USB USB

Type of serial bus that allows peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, digitizers, data gloves, etc.) to be easily connected to a computer.
and memory solutions at booth No. 824:
-- The EZ-USB FX2(TM) is the world's first USB 2.0 integrated peripheral
controller, including an 8051 processor, a serial interface engine (SIE), a USB
transceiver, on-chip RAM and FIFO, and a general programmable interface. FX2 is
a fully integrated solution, requiring less board space and providing faster
time-to-market. This device has the first high-speed USB microcontroller to
successfully pass the compliance tests set by the USB Implementers Forum
(USB-IF), allowing Cypress to use the official USB 2.0 logo. Cypress will also
feature its broad portfolio of USB products.

-- Cypress's More Battery Life(TM) (MoBL(TM)) SRAMs have the industry's lowest
power consumption, using up to 70% less power than current standard, low-power
SRAMs.

-- Cypress Quad Data Rate(TM) (QDR(TM)) memories increase bandwidth by
supporting separate data inputs and outputs for read and write operations.
Independent ports transferring data on both edges of the clock result in a
quad-speed transfer of data. The result is maximum bandwidth: the capability to
receive data and to deliver data as fast as 333 MHz simultaneously.

-- No Bus Latency (NoBL(TM)) memories, with 3.3-volt or 2.5-volt standard LVTTL
I/Os and a flexible data structure, meet the requirements of today's
communications systems operating between 66 MHz and 200 MHz. These memories
eliminate wait states that can occur when applications switch between reading
from and writing to the memory.

About Cypress

Cypress Semiconductor is "Driving the Communications Revolution"(TM) by providing high-performance integrated circuit solutions to fast-growing markets, including data communications, telecommunications, computation, consumer products, and industrial control. With a focus on emerging communications applications, Cypress's product portfolios include high-speed physical layer devices (PHYs), network search engines (NSEs), network coprocessors, networking-optimized and micropower static RAMs; high-bandwidth multi-port and FIFO (First In First Out) A storage method that retrieves the item stored for the longest time. Contrast with LIFO. See traffic engineering methods.

More than two-thirds of Cypress's sales come from fast-growing communications markets and dynamic companies such as Alcatel, Cisco, Ericsson, Lucent, Motorola, Nortel Networks, and 3Com. Cypress's ability to mix and match its broad portfolio of intellectual property enables targeted, integrated solutions for high-speed systems that feed bandwidth-hungry Internet applications. Cypress aims to become the preferred silicon supplier for Internet switching systems and for every Internet data stream to pass through at least one Cypress IC.

Cypress employs approximately 4,000 people worldwide with international headquarters in San Jose, Calif. Its shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
