Cypress Enhances CapSense(TM) Website User Experience.

New www.cypress.com/CapSense Website Makes It Easier to Access Information On Cypress's Industry-Leading Capacitive Sensing Solution

SAN JOSE San Jose, city, United States
San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850.
, Calif. -- Cypress Semiconductor Cypress Semiconductor is a semiconductor design and manufacturing company. It began operations in 1982 and listed publicly in 1986. Two years later, the company shifted over to the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol, (NYSE: CY).  Corp. (NYSE NYSE

, while also supporting touchscreens and proximity detectors in systems including cell phones, cars, notebooks, PCs, white goods and industrial applications. The new CapSense website can be accessed from the Cypress company website or directly at www.cypress.com/CapSense.

The new CapSense website provides an intuitive navigation scheme through its organization under five categories: Technology, Applications, Products, Support, and News & Events. Users are only a single click away from accessing CapSense products with a list of direct links to the Cypress store, requests for samples, software download portal, online training, and local sales contacts. The redesigned website mirrors the resourceful user interface features of the Cypress company website, such as dynamic drop-down menus that provide users with a consistent and efficient navigation experience and rich flash animations that save time by communicating product value at a glance.

"An increasing number of our customers are realizing the value and differential advantage that CapSense delivers to their designs," said Carl Brasek, business unit director for Cypress's CapSense products. "Now our best-in-class touch-sensing solution is paired with a best-in-class website to further support our growing customer base."

About CapSense

A single CapSense device can replace dozens of mechanical switches and controls with an elegant touch-sensitive interface, and the solution supports touch screens and proximity sensing for superior product differentiation Product Differentiation

. CapSense-based "button" and "slider A block of material that holds the read/write head of a magnetic disk. See flying head. " controls are more reliable than their mechanical counterparts because they are resistant to environmental wear-and-tear from temperature change and moisture. Cypress has garnered well over 100 CapSense design wins worldwide in applications that include mobile handsets, portable media players, white goods, computers, printers and automotive, among others.

A CapSense interface detects the presence of a conductive object, like a user's finger, and embedded sensors work with the PSoC device to translate data about the finger's presence into various system control functions. The sensor is not an actual component, but can be almost any conductive pad, such as copper on the PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl.

Additionally, the solution can be used with multiple substrates like PCB, flex PCB and PET. Cypress's CapSense offers system designers numerous advantages over capacitive sensing products built around modules and sub-assemblies, including increased flexibility, reduced board space and lower cost. Because of the unique PSoC architecture with configurable analog and digital blocks, designers can easily integrate multiple functions (e.g., LED drivers, motor controls, and LCD displays), in addition to capacitive sensing. Users can complete CapSense designs quickly and easily using pre-configured and verified "user modules" within Cypress's PSoC Designer 4.4 Integrated Design Environment (IDE). PSoC -- Because Change Happens

PSoC devices employ a highly configurable system-on-chip architecture for embedded control design, offering a flash-based equivalent of a field-programmable ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor.  without lead-time or NRE (Non-Recurring Engineering) Refers to the cost of creating a new product, which is paid up front. Contrast with "production cost," which is ongoing and based on the quantity of material produced.  penalties. PSoC devices integrate configurable analog and digital circuits, controlled by an on-chip microcontroller, providing both enhanced design revision capability and component count savings. They include up to 32 Kbytes of Flash memory, 2 Kbytes of SRAM See static RAM.

The flexible PSoC resources allow designers to future-proof their products by enabling firmware-based changes during design, validation, production, and in the field. The unique PSoC flexibility shortens design cycle time and allows for late-breaking feature enhancements. All PSoC devices are also dynamically reconfigurable, enabling designers to morph internal resources on-the-fly, utilizing fewer components to perform a given task.

Easy to use development tools enable designers to select configurable library elements for analog functions such as amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, filters and comparators and digital functions such as timers, counters, PWMs, SPI (1) (Stateful Packet Inspection) See stateful inspection.

and UARTs. The PSoC family's analog features include rail-to-rail inputs, programmable gain amplifiers and up to 14-bit ADCs with exceptionally low noise, input leakage and voltage offset.

A single PSoC device can integrate as many as 100 peripheral functions saving customers design time, board space and power consumption while improving system quality. Customers can save from 5 cents to as much as $10 in system costs. Learn more about PSoC products at www.cypress.com/psoc and receive free online training at www.cypress.com/psoctraining.
