"Cypress has remained the market leader in USB because we offer a range of products to meet all of our customers' applications while consistently delivering high-quality reference designs and worldwide technical support," said Scott Harmel, vice president of marketing for Cypress's Consumer and Computation Division. "The new EZ-USB HX2LP builds on the success of our TetraHub controllers by delivering the EZ-USB LP family's outstanding low power consumption cost-optimized for systems using hub designs."

About the EZ-USB LP Family

The EZ-USB LP family takes advantage of advanced process technology developed by Cypress to slash dynamic and standby power Standby power, also called Vampire power, refers to the electric power consumed by electronic appliances in a standby mode. A very common "electricity vampire" is a power adaptor built on a plug with no power switch.  consumption by nearly 50 percent. As a result of the low dynamic power, peripherals using the new devices can operate from the power of the USB bus. The low standby current enables portable USB applications to significantly extend battery life.
