Such systems generally use microprocessors, or they may use custom-designed chips or both.  Technology" for 2005 by Electronic Engineering & Product World (EEPW), one of the leading electronics magazines in China. PRoC combines Cypress's WirelessUSB(TM) 2.4-GHz radio-on-a-chip with the company's PSoC(TM) (Programmable System-on-Chip(TM)) mixed-signal array, all in a single, integrated product.

The award was announced at EEPW's 2005 Embedded Conference and Product Show in Shenzhen. Cypress was selected from among a list of companies in the category that included Texas Instruments, Microchip, MIPS (Million Instructions Per Second) The execution speed of a computer. For example, .5 MIPS is 500,000 instructions per second; 100 MIPS is a hundred million instructions per second. , Philips, Maxim, Xilinx, Chipcon, MontaVista and China Core Company.

"We are delighted and honored to win this award," said Allan Kwan, Cypress's country sales manager in China. "As the China market continues to expand, introducing innovative new products such as our PRoC device is critical to maintaining our strong growth."

Cypress's commitment in China has spanned more than a decade, and it has established direct sales offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing, as well as a regional business operation center in Hong Kong. In September 2005, Cypress's first design center in China was established in Shanghai for the purpose of product design with a focus on local markets.
