Cypress, Synplicity Offer Promotional Synplify(R) Software for Ultra37000(TM) CPLDs; Enables Efficient Design Flow Between Synplicity(R) tools and Warp(TM) Software.

Business Editors

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 2000

Cypress Semiconductor Corp.(NYSE NYSE

See: New York Stock Exchange
: CY) and Synplicity Inc. today announced an exclusive offer for users of Cypress's Warp(TM) development tools.

Qualified users can receive an evaluation copy of Synplicity's Synplify(R) version 5.3.1 VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) A hardware description language (HDL) used to design electronic systems at the component, board and system level. VHDL allows models to be developed at a very high level of abstraction.  and Verilog synthesis solution. The sofware is dedicated to Cypress's Ultra37000(TM) and Flash370i(TM) CPLDs, and is valid for 90 days.

Users who take advantage of the offer will download the Cypress Synplicity(R) Bolt-in Kit. The kit provides an easy-to-use way to enable an efficient design flow between the Synplify environment and Cypress's popular Warp(TM) software. It gives users access to Cypress's high-performance silicon in the popular Synplicity design environment.

The Cypress Synplicity Bolt-in Kit allows customers to enter designs in the Synplify environment, and use Synplicity's Behavior Extracting Synthesis Technology(TM) (B.E.S.T.)(TM) to achieve optimum results. The resulting netlist can then be passed to Cypress's Warp software, where users can benefit from fitting and mapping technology developed specifically for Cypress CPLDs.

"This is a great opportunity for designers to take a no-risk look at the Synplicity tools and Cypress's CPLDs," said Norman Taffe, director of marketing for programmable logic at Cypress. "We are confident that they will like what they see."

"We are pleased to extend this offer to users that may not have had a chance to use Synplify in the past," said Joe Gianelli, Channel Marketing Director at Synplicity. "We have received a lot of positive feedback from users of the Cypress Synplicity Bolt-in Kit, and wanted to expose more engineers to this solution."

For more information and to sign up for the offer, users are encouraged to visit http://www.cypress.com/pld/synplicity. The evaluation copy of Synplify Version 5.3.1 and Cypress's Synplicity Bolt-in Kit are available immediately.

Broad Programmable Logic Offering

Cypress offers a broad range of programmable logic, including industry-standard SPLDs such as the 16V8, 20V8 and 22V10, and the In-System Reprogrammable(TM) (ISR (Interrupt Service Routine) Software routine that is executed in response to an interrupt. )(TM) Ultra37000 and Flash370i CPLDs. Cypress's upcoming Delta39K(TM) CPLDs span from 50,000-to-350,000 gates, many times larger than any other CPLD (Complex PLD) A programmable logic device that is made up of several simple PLDs (SPLDs) with a programmable switching matrix in between the logic blocks. CPLDs typically use EEPROM, flash memory or SRAM to hold the logic design interconnections. See PLD and SPLD. , and are the first CPLDs to offer embedded memory elements, including optimized FIFO (First In First Out) A storage method that retrieves the item stored for the longest time. Contrast with LIFO. See traffic engineering methods.

FIFO - first-in first-out
and dual-port memory blocks. Cypress's devices are supported by the Warp design tools, giving users access to a broad range of devices with a single, open development tool.
