He later earned his masters and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University, where he invented and patented VMOS technology. Since then the company's technology portfolio has vastly expanded under his leadership to include a wide array of silicon-based technologies for consumer, computing and mobile devices; data and wireless networks; and energy and automotive applications. Cypress also has established four subsidiary businesses which are developing MRAMs, solar cells, programmable mixed signal arrays and optical devices, respectively.
