Cynthia B. Nunn Named President of the Center for Nonprofit Management.

DALLAS -- Following a national search, the Board of Directors of the Center for Nonprofit Management today announced that Dallas nonprofit leader Cynthia B. Nunn has been named as the organization's president, effective February 16, 2006. Mrs. Nunn, who currently serves as president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas, Inc., brings extensive nonprofit management and executive leadership experience to the presidency of the Center.

"In its first 25 years, the Center for Nonprofit Management became a valued resource for the nonprofit community and a nationally recognized model under the leadership of two fine presidents -- Bob Weiss and Hedy Helsell. For the Center's third president in its history, we sought a respected and established nonprofit leader whose experience, reputation and vision would take our organization to the next level," said Robert Meachum, board chair of the Center for Nonprofit Management and Managing Director for Homecomings Financial. "The search drew an array of outstanding candidates from across the country, and chief among these was Cynthia Nunn. Her depth of nonprofit leadership experience, her proven management capabilities, her stellar regional and national reputation, and her commitment to and vision for the Center's mission make her the absolute right person for the Center's future."

Mrs. Nunn said, "I am proud and honored to be chosen to lead the Center for Nonprofit Management. This organization is so important to the nonprofit community. Mrs. Nunn is acknowledged as one of the top nonprofit executives in the North Texas region, and enjoys a national reputation for her leadership in the profession as well as her dedication to community service and volunteerism. As president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas, Inc., a position she held since 2001, Mrs. Nunn was responsible for management of a $4.1 million annual budget and 140 professional and support staff. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas serves more than 9,000 youth through 12 branch "Clubs" in the Metroplex and 13 schools within the Dallas Independent School District. Previously, she was executive director of Bryan's House, a nationally acclaimed model for pediatric AIDS services and the only agency of its kind in North Texas. Before accepting the leadership role at Bryan's House, she was the director of management consulting services for the Center for Nonprofit Management.

Complementing her professional career in leading nonprofit organizations is Mrs. Nunn's personal dedication to community service. She has held many leadership roles in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, including cluster coordinator for the Northeast Texas Area of the South Central Region, and is a past president of the Alpha Xi Omega Chapter. She currently serves as president of the Dallas Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and is on the board of directors of Greenhill School and E.K. Bailey Ministries, Inc. Mentoring is another passion for Mrs. Nunn, and she has invested in the lives of upwardly mobile, mid-level female corporate managers through mentoring venues in her church and community. For the past three years, she has voluntarily served as a career coach to four professional Boys & Girls Clubs staff members, through the Career Assistance Network sponsored by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Mrs. Nunn earned a BA from Wilberforce University in Ohio. A lifelong learner who has received extensive nonprofit and management training, she is a 1989 graduate of Leadership Dallas, and a 2002 and 2003 graduate of the Advanced Executive Leadership Training sponsored by Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Leadership Institute at Clemson University in South Carolina.
