Cynergy System Design and MIPS Technologies Announce Design Tool Business; Expand Business Relationship as Cynergy

Joins MIPS (Million Instructions Per Second) The execution speed of a computer. For example, .5 MIPS is 500,000 instructions per second; 100 MIPS is a hundred million instructions per second.  Alliance Program

Cynergy System Design, Inc., the leading provider of embedded system simulation solutions, today announced that MIPS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MIPS, MIPSB) has purchased Cynergy's ArchGen(R) micro-architecture design tool for the development of clock-accurate C models of its processor architectures. Further expanding this new business relationship, Cynergy has also joined the MIPS Alliance Program.

MIPS Technologies is developing a clock-accurate C language (RTL-C(R)) model of its MIPS32 4Kc(TM) processor core created using Cynergy's ArchGen and ASVP Builder products. "Writing C models by hand is no longer a viable solution for the fast growing embedded market given the continuously increasing processor complexity," said Mike Uhler, director of architecture at MIPS Technologies. "A graphical design capture language such as that provided by Cynergy's ArchGen application makes derivative designs easier to implement and improves collaboration among everyone involved in the design process."

Recognized Need for Accurate C Simulation Models for Early and

Fast System Verification

Increasing design complexity and the fragmented design approaches currently seen in embedded system design have created the need for high-speed, clock-accurate models that allow fast system simulation early in the design process. Although there are competing solutions offering either accurate or early models of IP cores for system verification, Cynergy's solutions are the only applications on the market today that provide both accurate and early models for embedded software developers. Cynergy's patented RTL-C simulation technology brings the added benefits of fast simulation and secure IP transport. MIPS Technologies valued Cynergy's unique technology in making the decision to use the Cynergy solution.

Adding Cynergy to their MIPS Alliance Program lets SoC designers use the clock-accurate 4Kc model in our ASVP Builder environment enabling early, fast and accurate system simulation."
