On Friday, Cymer shares were down nearly $10, closing at $82, amid concern the company faced unspecified Adj. 1. unspecified - not stated explicitly or in detail; "threatened unspecified reprisals"

problems which led Chief Financial Officer Bill Angus to skip a semiconductor industry meeting two days earlier. In response to a question from the audience, Akins addressed the situation.

"An issue arose just hours before Bill Angus was scheduled to make that presentation at the Needham Semiconductor Conference in Santa Clara Santa Clara, city, Cuba

. We did not have any time to evaluate or analyze the issue," Akins said.

"I will say this is the kind of situation, the kind of issue that has arisen in past quarters and the management team has dealt with them," Akins said. "But in this particular case because of lack of time, we deemed it the prudent and appropriate action to not make any further public representations until such time as the issue was analyzed, we had a chance to analyze its resolvability and we had a chance to estimate any impact or lack thereof it would have on company's financial performance and so on and so forth.

"And, of course, in the past 72 hours the management team at Cymer has been actively involved in doing exactly that. We feel that we'll be in a position to provide guidance to the marketplace by early Monday morning with some additional facts on that issue."

In his presentation to approximately 150 individual investors in attendance, Akins described the nature of Cymer's technology and the dynamic business for its products. He also explained why Cymer is confident it can maintain a strong position in its marketplace.
