, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 1999 - Cygnus(R) Solutions today announced it is working to optimize its industry leading GNUPro(R) Toolkit for Linux on Intel(R) Architecture.

This optimization work to the core Linux development technology will allow Linux software platform providers and applications developers to take advantage of Intel's Pentium(R) II processor. GNUPro Toolkit for Linux, a complete software development toolsuite, enables developers to increase the performance of the Linux operating system operating system (OS)

, and by working with Intel on optimizations for Pentium(R) processors, Cygnus continues to advance the commercial adoption of Linux as a robust, high performance operating system."

Cygnus is currently optimizing its GNUPro software development technology to support a range of Intel processors, including Celeron(TM), Pentium(R) II and Pentium(R) III processors.

"As the momentum for Linux OS builds, the development of compelling applications will determine its ultimate fate as a platform," said Alex Daly, president and CEO of Cygnus. "Cygnus offers the only truly viable Linux software development toolsuite based on the industry leading GNUPro technology."
