for the second quarter ended August 1, 1998 decreased by 22.7% to $8.5 million from $11.0 million for the comparable period in 1997. Net sales for the first six months ended August 1, 1998 were $14.7 million, a decrease of 20.8% from $18.6 million in the comparable period in 1997. The decreases in net sales for the second quarter and the first six months of 1998 were primarily attributable to decreases in sales to divisions of The Limited, Inc. of $2.6 million and $3.6 million, respectively.

Net loss for the second quarter of 1998 was $1.1 million, or $0.09 on a per share basis, compared to a net loss of $2.8 million, or $0.23 on a per share basis, in the comparable prior period. Net loss for the first six months of 1998 was $2.5 million, or $0.20 on a per share basis, compared to a net loss of $7.4 million or $0.59 on a per share basis, in the comparable prior period.

As previously announced, the Company anticipates that it will have a net loss for 1998. The extent of the net loss will depend, among other things, on the amount of sales to The Limited, Inc.
