The ETM Server product integrates a powerful set of host and client applications. The host services manage the acquisition, processing and distribution of real-time data. They interact with field devices, user requests, corporate computers and enterprise applications. Host services include the Universal Interface Service, the historian and alarm service.

ETM client applications typically reside on user workstations and interact with the host services over local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets and the Internet -- whatever is most convenient for the user. Client applications include a human-machine interface (HMI (Human Machine Interface) The user interface in a manufacturing or process control system. It provides a graphics-based visualization of an industrial control and monitoring system. ) developer/viewer, an alarm console and historical trending.

Built-in system administration features are also provided by CygNet Explorer and all clients are automatically updated through CygNet's version management system.
