Cycomm ships first security product based on acquired AT&T technology.


MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 1995--Cycomm International Inc. ("Cycomm") announced Monday that it had begun shipments of its new Motorola Retrofit ret·ro·fit

The RPUs will be used by cellular service providers as part of their cellular security service that protects users from unwanted eavesdropping Secretly gaining unauthorized access to confidential communications. The Cycomm RPUs utilize technology developed by AT&T and licensed to Cycomm in April as part of a broader product, technology and intellectual property agreement. The RPUs incorporate Digital Signal Processing See DSP.

The security units are designed for use by cellular service providers' customers, especially existing AT&T systems' users, with Motorola car and transportable phones.

Cycomm is developing a full range of cellular security products based on the acquired AT&T technologies. The company expects to deliver this fall a similar AT&T ACPS-based product for use with the Motorola MicroTAC The Motorola MicroTAC (otherwise known as MicroTac, Micro-Tac, MicroT.A.C, misspelt MicroTec or simply , Microtac (no capitalization for TAC in both cases) is a cellular phone first manufactured as an analog phone in 1989. (R) hand-held "flip" phone. In addition, Cycomm will deliver later this year a security component for the Motorola MicroTAC car kit.

Cycomm currently delivers a Series 300 Motorola MicroTAC "Slice" model that provides security through an easy slip-on attachment to the Motorola MicroTAC "flip" phone.
