Cyclics to launch first commercial grades at 'K'.

Cyclics Corp., Schenectady, N.Y., said it will offer its first fully commercial grades of CBT (Computer-Based Training) Using the computer for training and instruction. CBT programs are called "courseware" and provide interactive training sessions for all disciplines.  resin at the K 2004 show in Dusseldorf. The materials are based on an extremely low-viscosity oligomer oligomer /ol·i·go·mer/ (ol´i-go-mer) a polymer formed by the combination of relatively few monomers.

The curing process creates a chemical bond that, unlike a thermoplastic, prevents the material from being remelted.  engineering thermoplastic. The company declined to elaborate on the new grades but said they would differ in cure speed.

CBT resins have extremely low melt viscosity, which facilitates impregnating composites or blending with high filler loadings. Cyclics said the new grades would be used in nanocomposites, fiber composites, rotational molding, low-pressure molding and casting, and compounding. The company's first production plant, in Schwarzheide, Germany, is expected to be completed at year's end. It will have an annual capacity of 5 million lb with expansion to 10 million lb planned for 2005. Tel: (518) 881-1440 * PTDirect: 218HP
