Cyclic PBT in 'thermoplastic RTM'.

The closed-mold RTM (1) (RealTime Model) Refers to a system or architecture that performs operations in real time. See real time.

composite process has been demonstrated for the first time with a thermoplastic resin. What makes it possible is the CBT (Computer-Based Training) Using the computer for training and instruction. CBT programs are called "courseware" and provide interactive training sessions for all disciplines.  liquid reactive resin system from Cyclics Corp., Schenectady, N.Y. CBT resin has a water-like viscosity, which easily impregnates mat and fabric reinforcements. Then it cures in the mold to form a normal PBT PBT Provider Backbone Transport (networking technology adding determinism to ethernet)

polyester engineering thermoplastic A polymer material that turns to liquid when heated and becomes solid when cooled. There are more than 40 types of thermoplastics, including acrylic, polypropylene, polycarbonate and polyethylene. .

Radius Engineering Inc., a supplier of RTM injection systems in Salt Lake City, experimented with Cyclics' newer one-part, precatalyzed CBT system. "Now that Cyclics has developed a one-part system, the processing is very user-friendly," says Dimitrije Milovich, president of Radius Engineering. "Because of CBT resin's extremely low viscosity, we believe larger, more complex parts can be injected in 60 to 120 sec." Low-pressure RTM injection equipment and tooling are less expensive than for thermoplastic injection molding. Unlike thermoset A polymer-based liquid or powder that becomes solid when heated, placed under pressure, treated with a chemical or via radiation. The curing process creates a chemical bond that, unlike a thermoplastic, prevents the material from being remelted. See thermoplastic.  composites, CBT parts are post-formable and recyclable.
