Cyberweek - the Future of the Practice of Law; The First Virtual Bar Association Meeting - October 23 - 28, 2005.


WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- "Cyberweek -the Future of the Practice of Law" is a call for attorneys from anywhere in the world to "meet and form virtual committees" at Internetbar.org from October 23-28, 2005 to begin transforming their practices for the digital age. Cyberweek is Internetbar.org's (IBO Ibo: see Igbo. ) first ever virtual bar meeting and trade show. Our meeting is jointly sponsored by the Center for Information Technology and Dispute Resolution of the University of Massachusetts The system includes UMass Amherst, UMass Boston, UMass Dartmouth (affiliated with Cape Cod Community College), UMass Lowell, and the UMass Medical School. It also has an online school called UMassOnline. . Previous Cyberweeks' archives showcasing the use of online dispute resolution Online dispute resolution (ODR) is a branch of dispute resolution which uses technology to facilitate the resolution of disputes between parties. It primarily involves negotiation, mediation or arbitration, or a combination of all three.  technology to improve the administration of justice can be viewed at www.odr.info.

The mission of "Cyberweek" is to introduce lawyers from around the globe to each other, participate in demonstrations of online dispute resolution systems in use today in a number of court systems and businesses around the world and start online forums to promote best practices and initiate key law reform projects which are needed to underpin the legal infrastructure of cyberspace. Attendees will have the chance to join the first IBO virtual committees on the legal ethics The examples and perspective in this article or section may not represent a worldwide view of the subject.

Can Democratic Dialog Work in Virtual Spaces? An Exploration Using Unchat Professor Bill Warters of Wayne State University Wayne State University, at Detroit, Mich.; state supported; coeducational; established 1956 as a successor to Wayne Univ. (formed 1934 by a merger of five city colleges).  presents a real time UNCHAT (virtual collaboration and meeting platform) session. To be held at 2:00 - 3.00 pm U.S. Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday October 25th.
