NEWBIE A first-time user. A newbie may be a novice in anything; using a computer, a video game, a particular operating system, the Internet, etc. Also called a "newb," "noob" or "nub."

A derogatory term for a new or inexperienced person on the Internet.

FLAME:

To put someone down, to insult. To avoid being flamed, always read the rules or the FAQ and get to know the people in the chat area or newsgroup before you start posting. This is one way to avoid being known as a newbie or flamed for posting the wrong thing!
