CyberSafe To Provide Highly Praised Single Sign-On Solution For Entrust Technologies' Public Key Infrastructure Products.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 1998--

Using Public Key Credentials, Users Sign On and Gain Access to

Both Public Key and Kerberos Secured Services

CyberSafe(R) Corporation announced today that the TrustBroker(TM) Security Suite is Entrust-Ready(TM), providing interoperability with the Entrust Technologies' public-key infrastructure (PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) A framework for creating a secure method for exchanging information based on public key cryptography. The foundation of a PKI is the certificate authority (CA), which issues digital certificates that authenticate the identity of ) product line.

This combined solution delivers to joint customers public-key authentication, utilizing CyberSafe's Single Sign-On An identification system that lets users log into multiple Web sites on the Internet with one username and password. Single sign-on systems are also used within an enterprise, enabling users to access all authorized resources in the local network using the same username and password.  (SSO See single sign-on and CSO.

CyberSafe's Secure Single Sign-On uses strong authentication protocols where passwords are not stored locally or sent in clear text across the network. CyberSafe has achieved secure single sign-on for both public-key and Kerberos authentication mechanisms. In addition, the TrustBroker Client supports smart cards Example of widely used contactless smart cards are Hong Kong's Octopus card, Paris' Calypso/Navigo card and Lisbon' LisboaViva card, which predate the ISO/IEC 14443 standard. The following tables list smart cards used for public transportation and other electronic purse applications. , which allow users to achieve true public-key SSO. This implementation increases security by removing file based public-key from workstations (hard disks or floppies), and supports roaming or nomadic See nomadic computing.  users.

"Working with Entrust was a natural choice based on the requests from our customers and partners to partner with a leading CA vendor," said Bob Gassen, vice president of business development at CyberSafe. "This combination of PKI, TrustBroker Security Suite authentication, and smart cards allows customers to leverage their public-key investment and supports their roaming users who travel between workstations."

"We are very pleased and excited to partner with CyberSafe to extend the security of the Entrust PKI product to CyberSafe's customers," said John Ryan John Ryan can refer to:
